                  The Right Domain Name

                  Choosing the Right Domain Name
Selecting the right domain name is important, whether you're going to resell it right away, monetize parked traffic or build out a site for resale.

                  Make it Short and Memorable
The right domain should be short, easy to spell and pronounce, memorable for your visitors and should not contain odd characters like hyphens or numbers. This will avoid any confusion and lost traffic due to incorrect spelling. Your domain should be unique in nature. Having your site confused with other Web sites can result in a loss of traffic.

                  Descriptive Keywords
Your domain should be descriptive and, if you have a business site, well-suited for the product or service you are selling. Selecting the right domain name will also help build search engine traffic. Try to choose a domain name that includes the key word or phrase that best describes your product or service - this will help index your Web site within search engines, creating more traffic to your website. For example, if your Web site sells bicycle parts, it can certainly give you an advantage if you have the phrase "bicycle parts" or "bike parts" in your domain name, such as bostonbikeparts.com. Most search engines, like Google®, direct visitors to sites that contain their search keywords in the domain name.

                  Avoid Trademarks
To avoid confusion or potential legal trouble, stay away from domains that contain another company's trademark and keywords that resemble another Web site's brand name.
